Carolina Brewery Places Third Overall and Wins Awards at the 2023 Carolinas Championship of Beer

Carolina Brewery takes home gold, silver, and bronze medals for their Costero Mexican Lager, Sky Blue Kolsch, Fin Chaser Pale Ale, Oatmeal Porter, and Copperline Amber Ale.


Chapel Hill, NC / Pittsboro, NC - May 2, 2023 - Oldest Brewery in the Triangle, Carolina Brewery, announces their many accolades at the 2023 Carolinas Championship of Beer. Carolina Brewery received third place overall out of 199 competing entries. Their Costero Mexican Lager was awarded a gold medal, their Sky Blue Kolsch and Fin Chaser Pale Ale were awarded silver medals, and their Oatmeal Porter and Copperline Amber Ale were awarded bronze medals.


“It's the first time that we have competed in the Carolinas Championship of Beer since 2018 and we are honored to win five medals and place third overall in this prestigious competition,” said Robert Poitras, CEO and Founder of Carolina Brewery. “Our Brewers have spent a lot of time and effort perfecting quality control standards and brewing processes so winning these awards are a huge validation of all of their hard work.”



Carolina Brewery prides themselves on their commitment to quality and were thrilled to showcase these efforts at the 2023 Carolinas Championship of Beer. "Our Brewers work every day to ensure our strict standard operating procedures in brewing and canning are met including examining our yeast under a microscope for viability, measuring every batch for parts per billion of dissolved oxygen, and we also recently invested in a Reverse Osmosis System for our brew water,” said Poitras.
