Relaxing with an ice cold Sky Blue Kolsch after a hard day, catching up with friends over a large plate of Potato Chip Nachos, or starting a "TAR...HEELS" chant on the Sky Blue Express after a big Carolina win. For 29 years, Carolina Brewery in Chapel Hill has been a place where friends gather around scratch-made food and crisp, delicious beers that celebrate the Carolina Life—16 ounces at a time.
Roy Williams reached out to me to set up his daughter's graduation party at Carolina Brewery. We moved heaven and earth to make it happen for him. Day of- a man in mirrored sunglasses holding a gift walks up to me and says he is here to see Roy Williams. I didn't even recognize him until he took his sunglasses off but it was Dean Smith. I walk him through the packed restaurant to our private dining room upstairs. Dean Smith and Roy Williams embrace. As a Tar Heel Alumni and owner of a downtown Chapel Hill institution, it is a memory I will never forget. To this day, I still wish I had taken a photo!
